Omar Mahasneh – OMI

It all started when I was 13 years old, as I used to sit with my mother and listen to some of her records or to the radio playing a full song for the greatest ever Egyptian artist (Oum Kalthoum) her music was perfectly structured with incredible melodies, her voice was magnificent and the lyrics were outstanding. this experience had a huge influence on my music, it was indeed my inspiration whether in terms of music structure or in terms of melodies plus it was a starting point to my infinite love for vocals.
Musicians and bands like Dire straits, Pink Floyd, Massive Attack, Depeche Mode and Michael Jackson had a huge influence on me in the early 1990’s, in Mid 1990’s I moved to Beirut (Lebanon) and I was introduced to House Music and we fell in love from the first listen 🙂 it was full of melodies and vocal, I started collecting tracks and learned my trade as a DJ, where I played in some of the best spots there.
I moved to Dubai in 2001, where the scene was about to start, I had a little involvement in DJing at the beginning but I worked as an assistant promoter for some of the biggest parties back in the day including artists like Nick Warren, John Digweed and Deep Dish, this experience enhanced my knowledge in the house music industry in general and re-ignited my passion again so I started playing at different venues around Dubai.
I moved back to Beirut in 2009, to carry on as a promoter and as a DJ as well, playing at various venues like Art Lounge, Palm Beach rooftop and having the pleasure to play at the Legendary BO18.
Having moved to Cape Town in 2014, I have been breaking into the scene and playing at the biggest parties including a monthly slot at ERA nightclub.
Omar Mahasneh – Omi will always be devoted to finding the unique sound of Ambient, Deep, Tech, Techno and Progressive House Music.
