Ben Fairhurst is Fhurst.
Ben Fairhurst is Fhurst.
Hailing from Perth, Australia he has been mixing since 1999 and played his first
set at a university rave the following year.
In the early days the
sound of Fhurst was dominated by trancey grooves and hard acid basslines with
inspiration being drawn from the trance scene of the late 1990's.
That sound kept changing
as Ben made his way across Europe before moving to London in 2005 but by the
time he left Perth Ben had reached the finals of the big room to bedroom dj
competition along with dropping several sets in and around the Perth clubbing
scene at clubs such as Rise, the Apartment and the Spirit Soundbar to name a
few.
Since arriving in London
Ben teamed up with long time partner in crime DJ Moore to form the Critical Boys
and together they took up a residency at London's firehouse night club during
the latter half of 2006.
Since then Ben has played
several sets in and around London at clubs which include the Brixton Jam and the
Whitehouse for Lucky Life promotions, Zulus and Revolver.
2007 saw the Critical Boys take up their weekly slot at World Dance Radio on
Fridays from 8 to 10pm and the sound of Fhurst took on an electro feel as that
sound pushed itself onto the London clubbing scene.
With DJ Moore in Brazil
Fhurst now takes over the running of the show in 2008 and things are about to
get a whole lot more phatter! Fhurst is all about the bassline in whatever tune
or genre it can be found.
Predominantly a house dj
Fhurst keeps to his Australian roots by regularly dropping breaks in his sets
and is still influenced by the rock culture he was brought up on as a kid.
You'll find just about
any type of tune in a Fhurst set but one things for sure, the bassline is phat,
the speakers will be shaking and your body will be moving. So, tune in to rock
out to Fhurst on Fridays 8 to 10pm!
