deadmau5 leaves Twitch after violating its anti-hate speech policies

Joel Zimmerman (aka deadmau5) has found himself in hot water once again after he dished out a few “homophobic” insults to a fellow gamer on the streaming platform Twitch.

Known for his love of video games, the mau5trap boss was playing the online shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds apparently called his opponent a “f*cking c*ck-sucking stream sniper f*g,” when he was defeated, according to Queerty. The outburst was labeled by Twitch as “hate-speech” and Zimmerman received a ban from the platform shortly after.

Following the ban, Zimmerman took to Reddit to express his resentment towards “Twitch’s double standards” on censorship and suspensions. Despite stating that Twitch was a “great company to work with” and they had some “fun partnerships here and there”, he made it clear that he would be leaving the platform for good.

You can read Zimmerman’s Twitch tirade below.

This is not the first time that deadmau5 has gotten into trouble following comments on Twitch. Back in October, a video surfaced of Zimmerman playing video games and making offensive comments about the EDM artist Slushii’s music as it was playing in the background. He describes the song as “AIDS music” and goes on to call the track “seriously autistic shit.”

It was later revealed that Slushii does, in fact, suffer from autism and the video bothered the artist since he has “always looked up to deadmau5”. The comment struck a chord with Zimmerman, who took to Twitter to apologize and subsequently took a break from social media to work on himself and seek “professional help”.

In other deadmau5 related news, the multi-faceted artist is currently working on his own mau5trap Sirius XM radio show and his first ever film score for the action noir thriller, Polar, recently premiered on Netflix.
